Cyber attacks can do great damage. Host intrusion detection systems (HIDS) can help to detect those
attacks. In order to compare different HIDS and test their effectiveness, up-to-date, correct and publicly
accessible data sets are required. Since all data sets available so far have serious problems, we present a
new one that solves these problems and explain how it came about.
